The committee sent the election-security bill to the Elections Committee on a 7-1 vote after hearing testimony in support.

The board signed onto AB 2604, while also taking up a separate SB 1420 support item on ballot processing and early voting.

The board formally asked lawmakers to pass a statewide process for voters to fix unsigned or mismatched vote-by-mail ballots.

The Assembly formally took up the resolution on May 11 as part of a floor session that also featured election debate and other policy votes.

AB 2604 moved ahead in the Assembly Elections Committee, with supporters saying a mobile cure option could make vote-by-mail corrections easier for voters.
