The Yuba City City Council unanimously approved a revenue-sharing agreement with Sutter County on Sept. 15 that would take effect only if voters approve Measure G, a proposed countywide transaction-and-use tax, in the Nov. 3 election. The action was recorded in the council meeting video.
Under the agreement described by City Manager Robert Pandorf, Yuba City would receive 77.5% of the countywide tax proceeds. Preliminary estimates put the total countywide revenue at about $22.5 million, with approximately $12.5 million going to Yuba City if the measure passes. Sutter County would receive about $9.2 million and Live Oak about $750,000, according to the city’s presentation.
Pandorf said the additional revenue could give the city flexibility to restore positions and services lost over time in police, fire and roads, as well as fund other priorities identified in the city’s strategic plan. Mayor and council members also cited police, fire and roads as essential services.
The agreement also includes a provision for Yuba City to take over responsibility for Walton Park by July 1, 2028, if Measure G passes, Pandorf said. The council approved the agreement by roll call, with all members voting in favor. The projected revenue remains contingent on voter approval, and the full executed agreement, fiscal analysis and current campaign positions were not included in the meeting record reviewed for this report.
