Sutter County supervisors removed from their Oct. 13 consent calendar a proposed authorization to seek consultant services for construction documents for replacing HVAC units at the Sheriff’s Office Medium Jail, according to the county’s official summary of proceedings.

The item, identified as MT8033, had appeared in the Oct. 13 agenda packet as a request to authorize a request for proposals for design and construction documents. The packet said the county had commissioned a facility-systems assessment after concerns about temperature and humidity at the jail, and that the assessment was completed in summer 2025.

The packet also said the county had approved a $6 million budget increase in September 2025 for Project PJ-100643, the County Jail Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Project. The proposed design work would cover HVAC replacement and related architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades at the Medium Jail.

The RFP included in the packet listed a planned distribution date of Oct. 14, with proposals due Nov. 18 and a consultant contract award targeted for Jan. 26, 2027. Because the Board removed the item from its agenda, those dates are not a confirmed procurement schedule.

The proceedings do not state why MT8033 was removed, whether the county deferred or revised the proposal, or when the item might return. They also do not record an alternate authorization or a new schedule.
