The California Highway Patrol has awarded the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office up to $423,612.64 under the FY26/27 CTFGP Law Enforcement program to expand DUI and cannabis-impairment enforcement, training and outreach, according to the grant agreement included in the county’s board packet.
The agreement covers the period from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. It says the sheriff’s office plans to continue DUI checkpoints, saturation patrols, allied-agency enforcement events and public outreach, including radio, digital and television advertising.
The project description also calls for training deputies in SFST, ARIDE and DAR, with the stated goal of expanding the number of deputies able to conduct DUI enforcement beyond the Shasta Lake contract area. The agreement’s budget narrative also includes plans to buy five intoximeters and a mobile light tower for checkpoint safety and on-site breath testing.
The budget schedule lists the award total at $423,612.64. It also assigns major sums to personnel, travel, advertising, equipment and outreach, including $159,805.44 for DUI saturation patrols and $148,000 combined for radio, digital and television advertising.
The grant agreement includes standard conditions on reporting, record retention, nondiscrimination, ADA compliance, drug-free workplace rules and racial profiling prohibitions.
