RIO DELL — The City Council on Jan. 20 awarded the Eel River Trail Accessibility Ramp Project to Hooven & Co. for $680,835.70 and approved GHD’s $120,611 scope of services for construction management, inspection and environmental services.
City Manager Knopp told the council the project is backed by a $1.2 million California Wildlife Conservation Board award for the Eel River Trail Accessibility Ramp Project. He said the ramp had originally been part of the Clean California Grant scope, but was removed after bids came in over budget.
Knopp also said the contractor will need to begin site preparation before the 2026 bird nesting season, which begins in March, to reduce the chance of delays and added costs. He told council the trail is considered a spur of the Great Redwood Trail and that any continuation would likely come through Rio Dell proper.
The council approved the award and related services in a 4-0 vote.
