Rio Dell City Council accepted a $108,178.75 California Highway Patrol cannabis tax fund grant for the police department during its July 7 meeting.
Police Chief Finney told the council the award had to be accepted within 10 days of the July 3 notification, according to the meeting summary. The council then unanimously adopted the resolution accepting the grant.
The meeting summary says the money will support police training, equipment, overtime and public education related to cannabis enforcement. The council had previously authorized submitting the grant application, and the acceptance item was handled as a time-sensitive agenda matter.
The council meeting also included other business, but the grant acceptance was logged separately because of the deadline.
