The Sutter County Agriculture/Public Protection and General Government Committee is scheduled to consider a first amendment to the county’s agreement with Yuba City Unified School District for school-based intervention services. The meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at 1160 Civic Center Blvd., Suite A, in Yuba City, according to the committee agenda packet.
The item, identified as MT7997, calls for approval or ratification of the FY 2026-27 amendment in an amount not to exceed $296,100 and would authorize Sutter County Chief Probation Officer Nicole Ritner to sign the agreement, the agenda says. The committee’s recommendation would go to the Sutter County Board of Supervisors for action.
Under the staff report, the agreement would continue one full-time probation officer at River Valley High School, one at Yuba City High School and one at Gray Avenue Middle School. YCUSD would pay 50% of the salaries and benefits for the three officers, equivalent to 1.5 full-time deputy probation officers.
The report says the original agreement also funded one full-time truancy officer for truancy prevention, but that position was removed from the amendment because of staffing shortages. It says campus assignments could be changed during the school year by agreement between the chief probation officer and the YCUSD superintendent.
The proposed arrangement has a total cost of $592,200. YCUSD would provide $296,100, while the Probation Department would cover the remaining $296,100 with federal and state funds, according to the staff report. The county says the revenue is included in its adopted FY 2026-27 budget.
The agenda materials do not establish whether the committee or Board of Supervisors ultimately approved the amendment, and they do not include current vacancy or caseload figures for the positions. The signed, fully executed amendment also was not included in the retrieved packet.
