Sutter County’s Health and Welfare Committee is scheduled to consider a proposed $82,817 package of state housing funds for transitional-age youth at its Oct. 20 meeting in Yuba City.
Under the committee agenda packet, the county would apply for and accept $45,963 from the state Department of Housing and Community Development’s Transitional Housing Program Round 8 and $36,854 from the Housing Navigation and Maintenance Program Round 5. The item also calls for an $82,817 increase in the fiscal 2026-27 Welfare/Social Services budget, offset by the same amount in HCD revenue.
The programs are intended to help young adults ages 18 to 24 secure and maintain housing, with priority for young adults currently or formerly in the foster-care or probation systems. Proposed uses include housing navigation, housing case management, emergency supports, coordination with community resources and efforts to prevent homelessness, according to the packet.
The committee is being asked to recommend that the Board of Supervisors accept the allocations and authorize the Health and Human Services director or designee to sign related documents. The packet says the request would have no impact on the County General Fund and that the grant funds must be spent by June 30, 2028.
The available materials document the proposal but do not show the committee’s recommendation or vote, or whether the Board of Supervisors later approved the resolution and budget adjustment. Projected participant numbers, service-provider arrangements and an implementation schedule were not provided in the packet.
