Rio Dell City Council unanimously approved a $54,000 replacement for the wastewater plant’s cake conveyance system on July 7 and adopted Resolution 1674-2026 to amend the 2026-27 budget.
Wastewater Superintendent Marshall Moore told the council the existing ribbon screw was damaging a liner and creating recurring labor every few months. He said the proposed AeroMod system would eliminate the ribbon screw, reducing wear and repeated maintenance work. Moore said the new equipment was priced at about $54,000.
In the meeting transcript, staff said the council also found AeroMod to be a sole-source vendor under city code for the replacement. The council voted 5-0 to approve the purchase and budget amendment.
The wastewater item was one of several utility and financial actions on the council’s July 7 agenda. The same meeting also included a solid waste rate adjustment, a CHP grant acceptance and a public hearing on delinquent sewer charges, according to the meeting agenda and transcript.
Because the available record is a meeting transcript and agenda summary, the story is limited to the action taken and the operational explanation offered by staff. It does not show whether any competitive quote process was considered beyond the sole-source finding, or provide lifecycle-cost comparisons with alternatives.
