The California Energy Commission approved Agreement FED-26-002 with Los Angeles Trade-Technical College for a $1.5 million grant aimed at supporting students in residential clean-energy and energy-efficiency training programs.
According to the grant request form and scope of work, the money will fund a Workforce Enablement Program focused on non-instructional student supports rather than classroom instruction. Those supports are meant to help students in the Construction, Maintenance and Utilities pathway stay enrolled, finish training and move into jobs.
The packet says the program will address barriers including transportation, childcare, tools, certification costs and other expenses that can make it harder for students to complete training. It also points to service coordination through LATTC’s Employment and Career Success Pathway Center, Pathway Innovation Office and the Vernon-Central/LATTC WorkSource Center.
The agreement is tied to the California Energy Commission’s July 8 business meeting. The grant request form identifies Amber Beck as the presenter. The materials reviewed do not include a final vote tally or a more detailed public breakdown of performance measures beyond the broad service scope.
The grant packet says the agreement is not considered a CEQA project because it is for supportive services and does not itself cause a direct or reasonably foreseeable physical change in the environment.
