The Fortuna Elementary School District Board of Trustees’ Aug. 6 regular meeting agenda is crowded with personnel, policy and instructional items, including proposed 2026-27 tentative agreements with CSEA and FETA, a compensation package for unrepresented employees, and a revised employee handbook.
The board’s agenda, posted for a 5:30 p.m. closed session and 6:30 p.m. open session at Fortuna Middle School Cafeteria, also includes a text messaging privacy policy, a broad package of new and revised board policies, administrative regulations and exhibits, and a TK-5 Amplify CKLA / 6-8 Amplify ELA pilot for 2026-27. The policy package listed on the agenda spans multiple board policies, administrative regulations and exhibits, from BP 1240 and AR 1240 through BB 9200.
In addition to those items, trustees are scheduled to consider a declaration of need for certificated staff and a leave-of-absence request for a 1.0 FTE certificated teacher for 2026-27. The meeting begins with a closed-session superintendent evaluation under Government Code § 54957(b), followed by an announcement of any reportable action taken in closed session.
Routine consent items on the agenda include approval of June 9 public hearing minutes, June 11 regular and special meeting minutes, warrants and the Williams quarterly report for the second quarter of 2026.
The agenda notice also sets public-comment rules, including a three-minute limit per speaker and a 20-minute cap on any single non-agenda topic, and says public writings related to agenda matters may be inspected at the Superintendent’s Office in Fortuna.
