Caltrans representative Jeff Pimentel gave the Humboldt County Association of Governments board a project-by-project update at its April 30 meeting, outlining new near-term timelines for three visible transportation jobs in the county.

Pimentel said the Indianola undercrossing is nearing completion, with a May 28 ribbon cutting planned and trail connections expected to be finished by then, according to the meeting record. The board also heard that traffic on the Eureka Slough bridge has been shifted north while repairs are being designed. For the South Broadway and Hilfiker signal work, Pimentel said the equipment is installed and should become operational by mid- to late summer.

The update put multiple Humboldt transportation projects on the public record at once, giving local agencies and residents a clearer sense of when detours, reopening plans and final completion work may happen.

The board’s April 30 special meeting also included other transportation and housing items, but the Caltrans report was the most immediate timeline update for road users and nearby jurisdictions.
