Humboldt County supervisors are scheduled to consider three airport capital items on their July 14 agenda that together top $17 million in federal grant funding and construction awards.
The board packet says supervisors are being asked to waive the county’s Nuclear-Free Ordinance for each aviation item and to authorize the Department of Aviation to proceed with grant acceptances, bid awards and related agreements.
At California Redwood Coast - Humboldt County Airport (ACV), the agenda calls for acceptance of FAA AIP Grant Agreement 3-06-0010-064-2026 in the amount of $12,827,980 and authorization of a construction award to Granite Construction Co. for up to $12,384,494.82 for Taxiway A relocation and lighting work. The item also includes authorization for change orders up to $1,238,449.48 and ratification of a Lochner Inc. amendment for project services, according to the agenda.
A second item covers Murray Field Airport, where supervisors are being asked to accept FAA AIP Grant Agreement 3-06-0072-022-2026 for $586,132 and award a runway 12/30 vertical guidance systems project to Cal Electro Inc. for up to $417,700. That item also would authorize change orders up to $41,770 and ratify a Lochner amendment for construction administration and closeout work.
The third aviation item concerns Rohnerville Airport, where the board is slated to consider FAA AIP Grant Offer 3-06-0083-15-2026 worth $3,694,895 and a bid award to Mercer-Fraser Co. of up to $3,404,095 for runway 11/29 rehabilitation. The agenda also lists change orders up to $340,409.50 and a Lochner amendment for construction administration.
The agenda does not say how supervisors will vote, and it does not include the full staff reports or detailed local match breakdowns. Those details would likely be needed to determine the projects’ final cost structure and schedule.
The board meets July 14 in Eureka.
