The Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District is scheduled to consider a permit approval and environmental review action for Humboldt Bay Oyster Company’s shellfish-farm project at its June 11 meeting.
According to the June 11 agenda packet, commissioners are set to take up Resolution 2026-08, which would adopt the project’s Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration, approve the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program and approve Harbor District Permit 2023-04 with conditions.
The agenda materials describe Humboldt Bay Oyster Company as the operator of the proposed shellfish farm project. The summary says the permit would allow continued operations and limited expansion, including longline culture, raft culture in Mad River Slough and use of existing and proposed farming areas near north Humboldt Bay.
The item is listed on the district’s regular agenda for the meeting at Woodley Island Marina in Eureka. The packet does not include the outcome of the vote, and the final permit conditions were not visible in the summary materials reviewed.
The same agenda also includes other board actions, including a monthly update on the Humboldt Bay Offshore Wind Heavy Lift Marine Terminal Project, but the shellfish-farm permit is one of the most concrete decisions scheduled for the night.
