The Shasta Regional Transportation Agency is set to host a ribbon cutting Aug. 24 for the new Gold Runner Route 5 intercity bus service, a thruway connection between Redding and Sacramento along the Interstate 5 corridor.
According to the agency’s special event notice, the event will be hosted by the Redding Chamber of Commerce and the Redding Area Bus Authority at the RABA Downtown Passenger Terminal, 1530 Yuba St. in Redding. The notice says the SRTA board will not take any legislative action at the event.
The launch also appeared in SRTA’s June 24 board agenda, where RABA’s Section 5311(f) intercity bus program applications included an item labeled “I-5 Service Between Redding and Sacramento” in the consent calendar materials. That agenda also identified Sacramento as the endpoint city for the service.
SRTA’s August notice does not provide a schedule, fare, or frequency for the new route.
