The Sutter County Health and Welfare Committee agenda recommends accepting a $100,000 California Office of Traffic Safety grant for pedestrian- and bicycle-safety programming, according to the Oct. 6 agenda packet.
The proposed grant period runs from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027. The agenda materials say the money would support safety education, workshops, bicycle rodeos, equipment, community events and outreach.
The program would focus outreach on children, older adults, people with disabilities, lower-income neighborhoods and Spanish- and Punjabi-speaking residents. The grant materials identify crash-risk areas in Yuba City and Live Oak, including the Colusa Avenue and Plumas Street/Bridge Street corridors.
The proposed budget amendment would add $100,000 in grant revenue and appropriations to the county Public Health budget. The agenda does not include a record of the committee’s recommendation or a final Board of Supervisors vote. It also does not provide a project-by-project spending plan or a timeline for safety improvements at the named corridors.
