Northern Humboldt Union High School District is projecting a $2,136,159 decline in its 2026-27 fund balance, according to a financial statement included in the district’s Oct. 13 board agenda packet.
The statement, labeled for the 2026-27 fiscal year as of Aug. 31, lists total revenue of $33,557,790 and total expenditures of $35,640,097. Expenditures exceed revenue by $2,082,307. After other financing sources and uses, the statement shows a net fund-balance change of negative $2,136,159.
The projected ending balance is $8,380,583. The statement also lists a special reserve of $1,390,851 and a combined general-fund and special-reserve balance of $10,851,142.
The board materials do not explain what assumptions are driving the projected gap or identify any planned spending reductions, reserve use or effects on district programs. The figures therefore describe a budget projection, not a final year-end result. District officials should clarify the causes of the gap, how it compares with the adopted budget and whether the projection is expected to change.
