LIVE OAK — The City Council on Sept. 2 approved acceptance and execution of a $1 million Proposition 64 grant for the Live Oak Community Pool, converting an award that staff said had initially been ineligible because of an outdated cannabis ordinance.
According to the staff report, the California Board of State and Community Corrections approved the grant on June 25 after the city corrected the eligibility problem. The agreement runs through Dec. 31, 2031 and covers pool rehabilitation work along with programming tied to youth prevention and transitional-aged youth employment.
The council’s action also included a supplemental appropriation so the city can receive and spend the money. Materials for the meeting show the grant is intended for pool liner and mechanical repairs, water-quality and accessibility upgrades, restroom restoration and a new shade structure.
The council’s Sept. 2 meeting summary shows the grant item was among several business items taken up that night, alongside an AB 1600 impact-fee report, a stormwater analysis contract and a nuisance ordinance update.
