The Live Oak City Council on Sept. 2 adopted a rewritten nuisance ordinance that repeals Title 14 and replaces the city’s existing Chapter 8.24 code.
According to the council’s agenda packet, the ordinance updates the city’s nuisance abatement rules by revising definitions, administrative penalties, appeal procedures and garbage-container regulations. The Sept. 2 meeting summary says the council waived second reading and adopted the revised ordinance.
The move followed an Aug. 19 public hearing, when the council introduced the ordinance by a 3-1 vote after hearing public comment, according to the August 19 meeting minutes included in the Sept. 2 packet. Those minutes identify the item as a rewrite of the city’s nuisance abatement framework.
The city’s meeting materials say the changes replace Title 14, the Neighborhood and Community Preservation Program, and consolidate those rules into a new Chapter 8.24. The packet also says the ordinance would affect how the city handles nuisance complaints, penalties and appeals.
