The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider a proposed expansion of where indoor cannabis cultivation may occur in unincorporated areas of the county.
The Board’s Oct. 20 final agenda places the proposal before a public hearing. The amendment would change the county’s Commercial Cannabis Land Use Ordinance to allow indoor cultivation in AE, AG, FR and U zoning districts within nonresidential buildings constructed after Jan. 1, 2016, rather than limiting the provision to nonresidential buildings constructed before that date.
The agenda directs the Board to take public comment, consider a staff report and Planning Commission recommendation, and consider introducing and adopting the ordinance and related findings. It also lists a California Environmental Quality Act addendum among the attachments.
If approved, the change could make more newer nonresidential buildings eligible for indoor-cultivation permits in the county’s unincorporated areas. The agenda does not establish how many properties or permits would be affected.
The agenda is a schedule of proposed actions and does not document the hearing’s outcome, the Board’s vote, any amendments or public testimony. Those details will require the meeting’s action summary or minutes and review of the staff report, ordinance and environmental documents.
