Fortuna City Council’s July 20 regular meeting agenda includes three items with potential policy and fiscal implications: a staff-directed push to nominate census tracts for Opportunity Zone 2.0 designation, a public hearing on replacing the city’s building code chapter with the 2025 California Building Codes, and an $83,690 supplemental budget request tied to the city’s Water System Master Plan task order with GHD, Inc.
According to the agenda packet, the Opportunity Zone item is paired with Resolution 2026-28 and directs staff to nominate Fortuna census tracts for the designation. A separate public hearing item, Ordinance 2026-787, would repeal and replace Title 15, Division I, Chapter 15.10 of the Fortuna Municipal Code with the state’s 2025 building codes.
The packet also lists a supplemental budget request for $83,690 connected to the Water System Master Plan task order. The agenda item does not indicate final council action, and the packet does not show a vote on any of the three measures.
The July 20 agenda also contains other business and consent items, including ordinance action on animal control enforcement and a broader slate of municipal approvals and reports.
