Ferndale’s July 15 City Council packet puts a proposed Recology Eel River rate adjustment in front of council, with sample monthly charges rising for both households and businesses.

The staff report says Recology Eel River’s franchise agreement runs through Dec. 31, 2026 and that the 2026-27 rates are based on a 2.8% CPI increase on the collection portion of the fee and a 1.01% drop in disposal costs. Under the proposal, weekly 32-gallon residential curbside service would increase from $45.12 to $47.44 a month, while a weekly 1-yard commercial bin would rise from $249.03 to $261.30, according to the packet.

The supporting rate tables also show the tipping fee falling from $175.41 to $173.64 and list the new rates as effective July 1, 2026. The packet does not show the final council vote or any discussion at the meeting itself, so the public record available here supports only the proposed adjustment, not whether council adopted it.

The rate review is one of the business items in the packet, which also includes a surplus-property resolution and staff reports on other city matters.
