The Big Lagoon Union Elementary School District board ratified a negotiated agreement with the Big Lagoon Teachers Association on Aug. 19, according to the district’s approved minutes.
The agreement includes a 1% increase to the certificated salary schedule and raises the district’s annual contribution toward certificated employees’ health and welfare benefits to a maximum of $15,420 per eligible employee. Both changes took effect July 1, 2026, the minutes say.
The board approved the agreement on a 2-0 vote. Board President Marjorie Adler and Trustee Brooke Hearon voted for it; Trustee Theresa Murphy Hall was absent. The minutes say the board had a quorum and that Superintendent Cathie Shermer presented an overview of the collective-bargaining process and the agreement’s terms.
The agreement was listed as an action item on the board’s Aug. 19 special-meeting agenda.
The public minutes do not state how many certificated employees are covered, the agreement’s total annual or multiyear cost, the full contract term or whether the teachers association held a separate ratification vote. The complete executed agreement and district cost documents were not included in the materials reviewed for this report.
