The Sutter County Board of Supervisors appointed Supervisors Jeff Stephens and Dan Flores to an ad hoc committee to discuss a possible resolution of the county’s lawsuit with Butte Water District, according to the board’s summary of proceedings from its Oct. 13 meeting.
County Counsel William Vanasek reported the action after the board met in closed session on Butte Water District v. County of Sutter, Sutter County Superior Court case No. CVSC24-0002844. The committee is expected to discuss the case with two representatives from the water district.
The board’s report said the committee was established by unanimous vote and that no further action was taken. It did not identify the district representatives, set a meeting schedule or disclose the claims in the lawsuit.
The action does not announce a settlement, payment or other final resolution. The case docket and pleadings would provide additional information about the dispute and any future developments.
