The City of Redding announced Thursday that Fire Chief Jerrod Vanlandingham is retiring after more than 30 years in public service.
Vanlandingham’s last day in office was Friday, Aug. 21, according to the city’s announcement. He had served Redding for six years after joining the Redding Fire Department in 2020, following more than 25 years of public service in Colorado.
Interim City Manager Michael Webb said in the announcement that the city is grateful for Vanlandingham’s years of service, leadership and dedication to the Redding community.
Deputy Fire Chief Jason Foley will serve as interim fire chief. The city said Foley has been with Redding for 22 years and oversees nearly 75 fire personnel. Webb said Foley’s experience and understanding of the organization will help provide stability during the transition.
The city said it will share recruitment updates as they become available. The announcement was posted by the City of Redding.
