The Humboldt County Planning Commission’s May 21 agenda includes a public hearing on a countywide mixed residential density ordinance that would allow up to 25 units per acre in certain R-1 and R-2 zones inside designated Housing Opportunity Zones, according to the county’s agenda.
The item is described as a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors and would amend Inland Zoning Regulations Section 314-56 if adopted. The agenda materials also identify an Environmental Impact Report and a draft ordinance attachment, and say the change would apply across a list of inland communities rather than to a single project site.
The Housing Opportunity Zones named in the agenda include Redway, Garberville, Miranda, Weott, Scotia, McKinleyville, Pine Hill, Humboldt Hill, Cutten, Myrtletown and Ridgewood Heights. The record does not show the hearing outcome yet, and it does not include the exact ordinance alternatives under review.
The same May 21 agenda also includes other land-use and planning items, including a general plan safety element amendment, a zone reclassification in Eureka, annual general plan progress reports and several cannabis-related hearings.
