At its April 6 special meeting, the Fortuna City Council adopted emergency rent stabilization regulations for mobile home parks and approved placing a local sales tax measure on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot.
According to the council meeting summary on TownCloud, the rent action came through Urgency Ordinance 2026-784, which created Chapter 11.02 of the Fortuna Municipal Code. The council also approved Resolution 2026-10, which sets fees for CPI rent increase applications, capital improvement pass-through applications and fair return rent increase applications.
The same meeting also advanced the city’s sales tax proposal. The council approved putting a local sales tax measure before voters in November and directed staff to return with the 75-word ballot question, along with the ordinance and resolution that will accompany it.
The agenda summary for the April 6 special meeting shows both items were among the night’s major business actions. The meeting also included proclamations and other council business, but the rent stabilization and sales tax decisions were the actions with the most direct effect on residents.
The council packet materials identify the sales tax item as research on a potential local sales tax measure and next steps, and the rent item as emergency regulations for mobile home parks. The available materials do not yet provide the full text of Chapter 11.02 or the exact ballot question language.
