Shasta County supervisors moved two charter-related measures forward Tuesday, advancing an eminent-domain proposal and a separate vacancy-filling proposal into ordinance introductions after a public hearing.
According to the June 16 board meeting transcript, the board voted 4-1 to bring back the eminent-domain measure as an ordinance introduction after public discussion.
The same transcript shows supervisors also voted 4-1 to bring back the vacancy measure as an ordinance introduction, with amendments to require a four-fifths vote and to trigger the next regular election if the vacancy occurs within 12 months.
The discussion centered on whether the county should further restrict eminent domain and change how elected vacancies are filled. The transcript and derived meeting records identify the measures as charter-related items, but the available materials do not yet include the final ordinance text or any later adoption vote.
The action moves both proposals into the formal ordinance process, where supervisors could later take up final language for adoption.
