Eureka city officials are set to consider a public hearing Tuesday on an appeal that could expand operating rights at Stanton Vacation Rentals.
According to the Aug. 18 council agenda, the item asks the City Council to uphold the Planning Commission’s conditional approval in part while adopting an alternative that would remove Condition K. Under that option, all five dwelling units at Stanton Vacation Rentals (VRM-26-1) could operate as vacation rentals for up to 12 adults.
The agenda describes the matter as a public hearing on an appeal of the Planning Commission’s decision and says the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. It also lists the appeal filing and a Planning Commission staff report and resolution among the supporting documents.
The packet materials available in the agenda do not include the appellants’ arguments, the wording of Condition K, or the final council action.
If adopted, the proposal would change the permitted use of the property and could affect how the city regulates the site going forward, but the agenda itself does not go beyond the specific appeal before council.
