Arcata School District Superintendent Luke Biesecker said at the May 11 board meeting that Redwood Coast Montessori’s charter renewal could be for a shorter term because of fiscal concerns raised during an audit, according to the board minutes.
The minutes do not identify the audit findings or say what renewal term the district is considering. They also do not show any public response from Redwood Coast Montessori during the meeting.
The comment came during a regular Arcata School District Board of Trustees meeting that also covered staffing, facilities, calendar changes and recognitions. The district’s May 11 minutes list Redwood Coast Montessori among charter schools reporting to the board, and separately note that Biesecker raised the possibility of a shorter renewal term tied to audit-related fiscal concerns.
